ESAT past papers
ESAT began in 2024 and no live ESAT paper has been published. UAT-UK recommends the Section 1 papers of its predecessors, ENGAA and NSAA (2016-2023), which contain the same type of questions. Every official PDF and answer key is below, and each part can be practised online.
Which papers to use for each ESAT paper
| ESAT | Practise with |
|---|---|
| Mathematics 1 | NSAA Mathematics; ENGAA Part A maths questions |
| Mathematics 2 | ENGAA Part B; NSAA Advanced Maths (2016–2019) |
| Physics | NSAA Physics; ENGAA Part A physics questions |
| Chemistry | NSAA Chemistry |
| Biology | NSAA Biology |
Some older questions fall outside the current ESAT specification; UAT-UK marks them in the papers, so check them against the ESAT specification.

Practise the current ESAT format
Each ESAT paper is a 40-minute computer-based test: Mathematics 1 is compulsory, plus two more papers. UAT-UK provides specimen and sample tests in the Pearson VUE test player, and MioMath offers timed ESAT mock exams in the current format.
FAQ
- Are there official ESAT past papers?
- No public PDF of a live ESAT paper exists. ESAT started in 2024, and UAT-UK directs candidates to the ENGAA and NSAA Section 1 papers from 2016-2023, which contain the same type of questions, plus specimen and sample tests in the Pearson VUE test player.
- Should I use ENGAA or NSAA papers for ESAT?
- ENGAA covers mathematics and physics only, so it suits Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 and Physics. For Chemistry and Biology use NSAA papers. NSAA Mathematics and Physics parts also practise the ESAT papers of the same name.
- Are old ENGAA and NSAA questions all on the ESAT specification?
- Not all of them. UAT-UK marks questions that fall outside the current ESAT specification, so check each paper against the ESAT content specification, especially in Physics and Chemistry.
